Dr. John A. Stathos

Dr. Stathos and his family reside in Staunton, Virginia. A graduate of the University of Virginia School of Medicine, he has practiced General Ophthalmology in the Shenandoah Valley for more than 30 years. He has experience and training in a vast array of ocular lid conditions, including but not limited to: Cataract, Glaucoma, Diabetes, Macular Degeneration, and Refractive Surgery. Born in Richmond, VA, Dr. Stathos has since lived throughout the Southeast. He attended Washington University in St Louis, MO, where he received his BA. Four years later he returned to Virginia to study medicine at the University of Virginia, receiving his MD in 1977. From there it was on to the University of Kentucky in Lexington for a one-year internship in Internal Medicine and then back to the University of Virginia for his Residency in Ophthalmology. He now serves as a Clinical Associate Professor in Ophthalmology, working with UVA residents from time to time. Dr. Stathos and his family attend Trinity Episcopal Church in Staunton. In his free time he loves to go biking and is a member of the Lions Club.
